DKE is an entity jointly operated by VDE and DIN, and is the organisation in Germany responsible for developing norms, standards and safety provisions in the areas of electrical engineering, electronics and IT. As the German member of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation (CENELEC), it represents German interests at a European and wider international level. DKE brings together about 3,500 technical experts from the fields of economics, science and administration. The electrotechnical safety standards developed at DKE constitute VDE regulations and are thus part of the VDE regulatory framework.


V2G Clarity is a brand established by Dr.-Ing. Marc Mültin. Being an active member of the standardisation committee, I have been driving forward the standardisation of the ISO 15118 communication protocol between electric vehicles and charging stations from its very beginning. I offer my expertise as a freelancing consultant to stakeholders in the e-mobility market interested in implementing this communication standard and respective IT backend systems.

Furthermore, my open-source reference implementation of the ISO 15118 standard, known as “RISE V2G”, contributes to the world-wide dissemination and acceptance of this standard.


Outstanding expertise, 85 years of experience and a unique range of highly specialised test rigs make FKFS, an independent research institute established in 1930, a highly sought-after development partner to the international automobile industry. More than 150 highly qualified and committed employees perform R&D projects in the areas of automotive powertrains, automotive technology and automotive mechatronics. The FKFS cooperates closely with the Stuttgart University.


The Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology SIT is one of the oldest and most respected research institutions in the world. The institute covers all topics of applied research and development in IT security and technical privacy protection. More than 160 employees support business, government and citizens in securing data, services, infrastructure and end devices. SIT is active in all industry sectors and has long-term experience in the field of automotive security. 


innogy SE is one of Europe’s leading energy companies. Through its three business segments, renewables, grids & infrastructure, and retail, it addresses the demands of the modern, decarbonised, decentralised and digitised energy world. innogy focusses on offering its existing and potential customers innovative and sustainable products and services which enable them to use energy more efficiently and improve their quality of life.


Itsecworld is an IT consultancy (sole proprietorship) founded by André Suhr in 2015. It specialises in IT security and communication within the energy sector, industrial automation, and public authorities. Its services include assisting clients with the introduction of standards-compliant information security management systems in accordance with ISO 27001, developing security solutions, and providing training.



Federal Institute of Physics and Metrology (PTB)

PTB, Germany’s national metrology institute, is charged under the country’s Standard Weights and Measures Act with implementing consumer protection from the perspective of metrology in general; advising the metrology authorities in the various federal states in order to secure the uniformity of weights and measures as set down by law; dealing with questions of physics associated with weights and measures, with a particular focus on performing scientific research in this area; and supporting the introduction of norms and standards relating to weights and measures. In accordance with Germany’s Units and Time Act, PTB is also tasked with promoting and communicating the units as set down by law and refining the procedures necessary for the purpose, and encouraging the sharing of knowledge and technology in the field of metrology.

Based on these tasks, PTB also works as part of the relevant committees of DKE and FNN (Network Technology/Network Operation Forum), whose activities contribute in various ways to the success of the transition to a new energy mix.


The Communication Networks Institute (CNI) at Dortmund Technical University engages in research and teaching with a view to developing and evaluating novel communications solutions. CNI currently brings together around 20 scientists in a range of research projects sponsored by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the EU, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMVBS) under Prof. Christian Wietfeld (previously of RWTH Aachen University and Siemens AG), with a focus on high-reliability M2M communications, automation and localisation; Next Generation Networks based on IPv6; interoperable, web service-based architectures; and energy-efficient communication for embedded systems, as well as swarm-based sensor systems and model-based validation of new system concepts such as these.


Webolution GmbH, based in Drensteinfurt, was established in 2001 and is a technology company in the field of Internet and Communications Technology (ICT). It focuses on Embedded Networking (Cyber Physical Systems) and Embedded IT Security.

Since 2010, Webolution has been actively involved via DKE|VDE in standardisation activities relating to Smart Home and Smart Grid (STD1911.2, STD1911.11 and K716.0.1), in the Security Taskforce of the Open Metering System Group (OMS) and monitors the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) protection profile, technical guidelines and PTB A50.8 on smart metering systems in accordance with s. 21 of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG), via a process of consultation and commenting.

Its areas of expertise are IT security, the common criteria protection profile, smart metering, secure application gateways, web service-oriented infrastructure, and a range of communications protocols and technologies. Webolution has created fundamental system designs for the above areas of expertise, and either developed its own runtime systems or adapted and refined existing systems.
